Inspiration Image for "The Way" Landscape Painting of path through the forest with strong light source

Coming Soon...The "I Am" Series

I am starting a new series of scenic landscape paintings that will incorporate watercolor and pyrography to tell the story. If you have been following along for a while, you know that I find much of my inspiration from nature and seeking joy and healing through painting the beauty of God’s creation. One thing you might not know is that the scenes that I paint stay stuck in my head until I paint and burn them onto a board. There are still some images that are just waiting to be released into the world.

The “I Am” Series started in a very similar way. One night after racking my brain in the studio all night trying to come up with a “cohesive” next collection, I had a dream that would not stop. In that dream, four images continued to pop up like a slideshow with the verse “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6) on repeat. Needless to say, I feel called to create this collection that has such a deep connection to who I am and why I create.

I have started with “The Way” and cannot wait to share the progress with you. This piece has texture and movement that flows through the piece to draw you into the light. The brushstrokes convey a sense of rushing movement while the trees ground you in a calm sense of peace all at the same time. The landscape is inspired by a back road called the “Old Grade” in Whipholt, MN. The quiet beauty of being among the trees in this area is incredible. One of my favorite memories from up north is riding down these back roads with the four-wheeler and taking moments to stop and appreciate the nature that surrounds us.

Studio Insiders will be getting the first look at the final piece once it is finished. If you want to follow along you can sign up to be a Studio Insider for exclusive access to new work.

With Love,

Josephine Cora
